Young Volunteer Opportunities with GCP

Are you under 30, passionate about helping others, and ready to make a difference in your community?

We’re looking for enthusiastic young people to volunteer and help support our developing Young Member Programme.

At GCP, our volunteers play an essential role in all that we do. As a volunteer with GCP, you will be in very good company, supported by and part of a welcoming and friendly team.

Young Volunteer Opportunities

As a Young Volunteer, supporting GCP’s Young Members Programme, your role would include:

  • developing positive relationships with our Young Members
  • helping them to gain confidence and build social skills
  • helping to plan and facilitate activities that are fun, engaging and educational!

This invaluable experience gives GCP Young Volunteers the opportunity to:

  • receive mentorship and assistance to plan and facilitate sessions
  • practical experience of working with youth and adults in a social, educational and third sector setting
  • experience what it’s like to work directly with people in a third sector environment
  • discover their passions, skills and goals so that they can choose the right learning or career path for them

For current students or recent graduates, GCP Young Volunteers gives the opportunity to:

  • gain practical experience that can help satisfy college/university program requirements
  • hone professional skills to help access the job market with specific, authentic experience of working with people of different needs, program development and facilitation

Importantly, volunteering with GCP provides the opportunity to connect with people  you might not normally meet and learn from their experiences. This helps expand your perspectives as you become a member of an amazing community.

Work Experience Placements

Gain practical work experience over 6-8 weeks at THE good place to be.

GCP’s Work Experience Placements offer opportunities to work at GCP and its award-winning social enterprises. Not only will you have the chance to make a positive impact in the Grassmarket Community Project, you will also have the opportunity to:

  • Boost your CV and gain experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Work as part of an experienced team and gain knowledge of the Third Sector
  • Build key employability skills and earn accredited online training certificates
  • Receive assistance and guidance to update your CV and showcase your new skills and experience
  • Earn a professional reference from GCP staff for when you’re ready to apply for your next role!

More about Work Experience Placements

Over 2025, GCP is planning to introduce placements for:

  • reception and administrative experience to support GCP’s member program
  • kitchen experience help prepare GCP’s daily community lunch and social enterprise events
  • woodwork experience supporting our Social Enterprise to produce hand-crafted products to be sold in our shops
