At the Grassmarket Community Project we do not imagine that we know what is best for people. Instead of doing things for people we do things with people, listening, enabling and empowering people to regain dignity and purpose in their lives. We believe that everyone has some talent and something to contribute, and through the projects, enterprises and workshops we offer we have created a warm, supportive and purposeful community in which everyone involved finds their life enriched and inspired.
Based in the heart of the Old Town we provide sanctuary and support to our members, many of whom are going through transitions in their lives and may need to re-connect with society. The project provides a varied programme of activities from music and arts sessions, to building furniture, and developing catering and hospitality skills. Many members use the project as a spring board to develop confidence and stability before moving on to sustain tenancies and find employment while others stay with the project and find a sense of community that overcomes isolation.
The project is on an exciting journey of growth. We have recently developed a range of social enterprises which are going from strength to strength. We are now developing our training wing and continue to add variety to our workshops for members. We recently moved into our new award winning building in the Grassmarket, which provides a modern, clean and inspiring environment.
We are seeking an exceptional Chief Executive who can steer the organisation forward, who will provide leadership, management and support to the staff team and members and encourage growth and development of the project and its people.
The role will be an outwardly focused role, developing the strategic objectives and reach of the project as well as ensuring financial stability. The social enterprises will play a key part in this and should be nurtured to achieve both their commercial and social aims. Working with the staff team and the Board of Directors, you will promote the Project in the wider community, with partner organisations and funders across the city.
If you feel that you fit the bill and you share our values, ideals and aspirations then we would love to hear from you. To request a full recruitment pack with information on how to apply or to arrange an informal discussion please email [email protected].
Applications should reach us no later than midnight on Sunday 23rd November. First round interviews will be run on Tuesday 2nd December. Late applications will not be considered.
