Would you like to run our Music For All group? *APPLICATIONS CLOSED*

We are now looking for a new sessional worker to run our weekly Music For All group. The group is a mixed ability group of 10-15 members with a range of capabilities. One of our long-standing groups, the music group has been going for six years and is one of the most popular groups in the project. The group is open to all our members, some who play an instrument and others that will maybe sing along or may “conduct” a musical score! Throughout the project we operate a person-centred/led approach so the direction of the group is largely dependent on the ideas and thoughts of the members.

You will be required to:

  • Manage and lead the weekly music group, including preparation of materials, teaching pieces and supporting the members
  • Recruit members and develop member commitment
  • Encourage positive behaviour in groups and challenge inappropriate behaviour as required
  • Manage resources and budget allocated to the service
  • Provide support and assist with fundraising applications as required

Essentials for the role

  • A recognised music degree, diploma or equivalent qualification, OR relevant professional experience or related discipline
  • Experience of Community/Adult Education/Training or Group Facilitation
  • Ability to engage with a variety of different people from all walks of life with varying and different needs
  • Ability to manage a varied workload with, at times limited resources, requiring a creative and flexible approach
  • Ability to develop the skills of each individual and in turn create an environment which raises their self-esteem with a person centred approach
  • Must be experienced working with vulnerable and challenging groups
