Pre-apprenticeships
GCP offers 6 month long paid, entry level programme for young people to develop practical skills, knowledge and experience in the growing, dynamic industries of hospitality and catering as well as woodworking and practical skills.

‘I work two full days a week and often have lunch with other Members at the Grassmarket Centre too. There’s something fun and new every day. I love that we work with recycled wood and get to practise with it. We make so many varied things.’

The Pre-Apprenticeship programme includes:
- Three paid shifts a week (16-24hrs)
- Opportunity to work in a range of roles within either our Coffee Saints cafe or Grassmarket Wood Workshop
- Complete industry recognised training such as food handling & hygiene, COSHH, etc.
- Receive 1 to 1 support, industry mentorship and holistic assessments of learning
- Develop a range of vocational skills, build self confidence and receive support for planning next steps
Modern Apprenticeships
GCP offers 6 month long, paid modern apprenticeships in either our Coffee Saints cafe or Grassmarket Wood Workshop. Focusing on developing and mastering a range of skills and knowledge in hospitality and catering or woodworking and practical skills, GCP’s modern apprenticeship’s are SQA accredited and designed to help young people kickstart their careers!
The Modern Apprenticeship program includes:
- Paid shifts with 1 to 1 mentoring and learning support
- Opportunity to work in a range of roles within either our Coffee Saints cafe or Grassmarket Wood Workshop
- Complete industry recognised training such as health & safety, food handling & hygiene, COSHH, etc.
- SQA accredited assessments
- Support in planning career goals and next steps!
