Welcoming the Legacy of the Grassmarket Mission
The closure of the Grassmarket Mission marks the end of a distinguished chapter of philanthropic work in Edinburgh and opens up a new set of opportunities, as it transfers its funds to the Grassmarket Community Project (GCP). We are hugely honoured to be receiving the legacy of the Mission and pledge to use the new funds to continue our vital work transforming the lives of the most marginalised people in Edinburgh.
The Mission co-founded GCP in 2010 and the two charities have always had a very close relationship through our shared purpose and vision. Since then the Trustees of the Mission have provided a generous grant every year in support of our work and we are honoured that they are entrusting us with their legacy. As the charity winds up, its remaining funds and assets are being transferred to GCP to support our core salaries, which in turn will help us maintain the skilled team needed to deliver our life-changing programmes for people facing complex challenges in life.
We appreciate the trust placed in us by the Trustees of the Grassmarket Mission and all who have contributed to its work over the years. This generous decision ensures that the Mission’s vision and compassion will live on through the ongoing work of the Grassmarket Community Project for generations to come.
A BIG THANK YOU
The Grassmarket Community Project’s Members Programme relies on the generosity of our customers, funders and donors. Our key funders for this area of our work are Nationwide Community Grants, The Robertson Trust and EVOC/Scottish Government Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund. We thank them for their essential continued support.
