OPPORTUNITY: Volunteer Drivers Required


Hours & days required
Volunteer Drivers needed on an adhoc basis.
Commitment
A minimum of 6 days a year
Training
Ideally you will have your D1 (though this is not essential as we can hire smaller buses)
We will pay for your MiDAS training (if you do not already posses) and your PVG disclosure.
Key Qualities or Skills required
Must be reliable and dependable. Have compassion for others, good sense of health & safety and a commitment to supporting others

OPPORTUNITY: Volunteer Art Assistants Required


Hours & days required
Volunteer Art Assistants Fridays 11am – 1pm & 2pm – 4pm
Commitment
As often as possible every Friday between 11am – 1pm & 2pm – 4pm
Training
An Art tutor leads the group and will provide support.
Key Qualities or Skills required
Must be reliable and dependable. Have compassion for others, patience, empathy, a willingness to help and with an interest in various types of Art using pens, Charcoal, Fabric, paints and clay among other things to let our inner artists express themselves.

Volunteer Literacy Assistant Wednesday 11am – 1pm
Commitment
As often as possible every Wednesday between 11am – 1pm
Training
A literacy tutor leads the group and will provide support.
Key Qualities or Skills required
The most important skills for a literacy volunteer are patience, empathy, a willingness to help and learn, and enthusiasm for the importance of lifelong learning for all.

OPPORTUNITY: Volunteer Tartan/Sewing Assistants Required


Hours & days required
Volunteer Tartan/Sewing Assistant Tuesday 11am – 4pm
Commitment
As often as possible every Tuesday between 11am – 4pm
Training
A Tartan/Sewing tutor leads the group and will provide support.
Key Qualities or Skills required
The most important skills for a Tartan/Sewing volunteer are patience, empathy, a willingness to help and learn, also a passion for sewing to help make items such as pillows, handbags and much more.

OPPORTUNITY: Volunteer Assistants Required For Our Open Door Meal Service


Hours & days required
Volunteer assistants for our Open Door Meal service Wednesday 5pm – 6.30pm
Commitment
As often as possible every Wednesday between 5pm – 6.30pm
Training
Training will be provided on-site and will be on-going.
Key Qualities or Skills required
Our Open Door Meals service is targeted at people who are homeless, vulnerably housed or suffer from poverty or social exclusion. On Wednesday from 5-6:30pm a two-course, freshly prepared meal is served by our friendly team at tables in our main hall.
The most important skills for a Open Door Meal assistant volunteers are an understanding attitude, empathy, and a commitment to support others.

OPPORTUNITY: Volunteer Woodwork Workshop Assistants Required


Hours & days required
Volunteer assistants for our Woodwork Workshop Monday – Thursday 10am – 4pm
Commitment
We are looking for a Woodwork Assistant who can contribute to the production of furniture and training beginner/ developing woodworkers. Candidates must have a joinery of cabinet-making qualification, or equivalent on the job training, and experience in a professional joinery workshop.

This opportunity would be well suited to newly qualified woodworkers who are looking to build some experience in a profession work. Or an established professional working part time who is looking to acquire experience training others.
Training
Training will be provided on-site and will be on-going.
Key Qualities or Skills required
Recognised woodworking qualification, or demonstrable experience of working in a woodwork profession.
Experienced using industrial woodwork machinery.
Knowledge of both traditional and modern furniture manufacturing techniques.
Demonstrable creative skills, and ability to apply creative thinking to designing and making furniture, often with recycled wood.
Knowledge of health and safety procedures in a workshop environment.
Empathetic and adaptable to the support needs of vulnerable adults.
Physically able to assist with manual working procedures, including using tools, and manual handling of heavy objects.
Willingness to travel, and work on-site to assist with the installation of furniture and collection of materials throughout the UK.
Flexible attitude, and open-minded to assisting other areas of the project as required.

OPPORTUNITY: Volunteer IT Tutor Required


Hours & Days Required
Mondays 11am – 1pm & 2pm – 4pm & Thursdays 11am – 1pm & 2pm – 4pm
Commitment
As often as possible every Monday & Thursdays
Training
Training will be provided on-site and will be on-going a PVG disclosure will be required.
Key Qualities or Skills required
You’ll help the Grassmarket Community Project team by assisting people with their computing skills. You must be confident in your own IT skills, exceptionally patient, and enjoy supporting people with a wide range of support and educational needs.
Tasks Involved

Ensure people use computers safely, Help people complete tasks – from basic how to use a mouse to emails to social media, internet browsing to basic office applications, Give individuals one-to-one support with their IT skills, Give the group or individuals tasks to help them develop their skills, Complete a simple quick evaluation form (online & on paper)
