Volunteer Stories: Meet Elsa

Volunteer Stories - Elsa

Volunteer Stories – meet Elsa

You may have already met Elsa. She usually sits on reception on a Wednesday but also covers for other days and helps out with Member lunches.

Elsa was brought up in London and has worked for years in Hong Kong and Italy as a solicitor and lecturer, before deciding to move back to the UK.

She didn’t want to return to London and decided on Edinburgh (lucky for us!).

Elsa moved to Edinburgh in September 2023 and found GCP via an internet search in the October,

‘I was looking to volunteer and was searching, and I think the Grassmarket has a really good website, it’s excellent, so I got in touch with Kevin and came in to see him.

‘I do think the Grassmarket offers a great programme of activities for members.’

Elsa loves working on reception,

‘I am enjoying getting to know all the members names and meeting everyone, everyone is so friendly and welcoming.’

Volunteer with GCP

Become a Volunteer

We would not be able to deliver GCP’s amazing support and services to vulnerable people and social enterprise customers without our fantastic volunteers.

There are lots of opportunities for individuals to participate and join in! Everyone is welcome.

The volunteer commitment varies depending on the role, but can be as little as two hours a month. All volunteers receive ongoing support and have access to free training.

A BIG THANK YOU

The Grassmarket Community Project relies on the time and commitment of our volunteers. The Volunteer Programme is possible thanks to the generosity of our customers, funders and donors. Our main funder for this area of our work is The Big Lottery Changing Lives programme and we thank them for their essential continued support.
