About Phamie Gow
Phamie is a gifted musician, celebrated in the Classic FM Hall of Fame 2023 and The Great British Classics Charts, and has played at venues including New York’s Carnegie Hall, the opening of the Scottish Parliament and the closing ceremony for the London Olympics.
She is recognised as being one of the most innovative harpists and her piano compositions have created a new wave of classical crossover music. Collaborations have been with Philip Glass, Ashley MacIsaac, Carlos Nuñez, Alan Stivell, LMO orchestra, McOpera String Quartet, Band of Horses, and many more.
“A virtuoso who can tickle and glide across the strings just as majestically as Harpo Marx once did. Her enthralling and slightly unnerving music was enough to give even Mike Oldfield goosebumps.” Barry Gordon, The Evening News. The Scotsman
“Breathtaking!” Living Tradition
“Full of melody and surprise” Philip Glass
“One of The Great Composers” Classic FM
Phamie is delighted to be supporting GCP with this special event,
“I believe strongly in the beauty, spirituality and sense of community of Greyfriars and the essential work of The Grassmarket Community Project. All of us working together like this will help make it a special evening for everyone involved and promote the real essence and power music has on us and in our lives. A bringing together of souls, in peace, celebration and harmony and joy.”
A fundraising event for GCP
Grassmarket Community Project takes an innovative approach to providing sanctuary and support to participants, many of whom are amongst the most vulnerable of our citizens. Through mentoring, social enterprise and education in a nurturing environment, the project develops skills enabling participants to realise their potential and reconnect with themselves, others and the wider community.
Our CEO, Helene, explains why this event is so important for GCP;
“Whilst this event is a vital fundraiser for our charity, Phamie is an incredible artist and we are honoured to be hosting her incredible talents. Here at GCP, we bring people together through art, music and crafts, coupled with the sharing of delicious home cooked food, and this event highlights this inclusive approach. Come and enjoy a wonderful evening of truly fantastic music and fine food, whilst supporting our work to empower some of the most disadvantaged people in our community.”
Pease join us for an exceptional evening. It’s a great way to support the essential work we do!
This event is kindly supported by Greyfriars at 12.
