LONDON CALLING… Highlights from our Members’ trip
London calling….
In November, 15 members, one staff member and three volunteers, packed their bags and travelled by train for a London adventure.
It was a memorable two days and nights in the capital, made possible by our customers, donors and funders.
Here are just some of the highlights!

Highlights from our London trip
Perry our Service Manager led the trip. He knew London as he’d worked there before and he is well organised, so the trip ran smoothly for all.
The hostel was easy to reach, close to the King’s Cross train station. It provided comfy beds in shared rooms and excellent breakfasts. The breakfast wasn’t the only great food, with trips to an Italian restaurant (BIG thank you to Forzawin), a Chinese buffet and, of course, Nandos!
The Tube strike did not spoil the fun, the bus routes were easy to navigate (with Perry’s expertise) and walking around London meant more could be seen and enjoyed. Most of the GCP group had never been to London before. It was great recognising the sites only previously seen on the TV and in films.
We had a busy schedule with trips to Soho, Camden Market, Tower Bridge and St Paul’s Cathedral. The highlight for most was an outing, organised by GCP, to meet MP Tommy Shephard and to visit the Houses of Parliament.
We all arrived home to Edinburgh on the late train, with one member saying they couldn’t believe all the fun they’d had for only £10.
The Grassmarket Community Project organises regular Members’ trips as varied as walking the West Highland Way and residentials in Perthshire, to wild swimming and visiting the sights around Edinburgh. Look out for them and be sure to sign up for the next one.
