Meet our summer intern Natalie

Meet Natalie, our summer intern!

We would like to extend a big GCP welcome to our summer intern Natalie

Make sure you say hello to Natalie, our new intern.  She will be working with Jen and Usman, supporting our members for the next month through Career Ready’s paid internship scheme (https://careerready.org.uk/scotland/).  Natalie admits she’s nervous but she’s looking forward to the experience: ‘It’s going to be new and fun and there’s lots to do.  It will be different every day which is better than always doing the same thing.’  She adds, ‘I’m not worried. I think I will learn a lot here like social skills and confidence.  It’s a very talkative place. Everyone talks to you.  I felt scared when I first come in but then someone always speaks to me and I think, all is going to be okay.’

Every day is a busy day at the Grassmarket, and Jen is looking forward to getting Natalie’s support with classes, preparing the members’ summer programme and helping collate our 2024 Census.  ‘Natalie will have a very varied role and get lots of experience’, says Jen, ‘We are keen to get Natalie trained up on Reception duties which will help her get to know everyone.  I’m looking forward to watching her confidence grow.’

Natalie will be coming in by train or bus daily from Livingston where she currently goes to school and we hope she really enjoys her month with us. We are sure she will build lots of skills for her future!

AND thank you to Career Ready Scotland, who are funding this internship.
