Café Assistant Temporary Summer Position(s)

The Grassmarket Community Project is a charity providing a unique blend of support and a nurturing environment for people who feel disengaged or marginalised. Every penny made by our various social enterprises directly benefits our work with vulnerable adults, and allows us to continue developing their skills and confidence in a welcoming community environment.

Due to increased business during the month of August for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, we have a number of positions available for Café Assistants. The Positions will start on and around 27th July and will last until 1st September. The hours will be on a variable basis (from 7 hours to 35) and will be over 7 days from 8am until 10pm.

Duties will include: providing our customers with outstanding customer service, setting up the café, taking orders from customers, serving customers at their tables, using and cleaning the coffee machine, working alongside our members, basic food prep, stocking up, ensuring our café is clean, tidy and presentable, ensuring that procedures (such as HACCP and COSHH) are followed and systems are maintained and updated, closing café down at the end of the day, cash handling and any other reasonable duties as requested.

Rate of pay is £5.00 per hour (under 18’s), £5.50 an hour (18 to 20 year olds) £7 per hour for workers aged 21 and over.

Interviews will be held on the morning of Tuesday 9th July 2015.
