Volunteer this December

This is an important time of year for the Project. Your help as a volunteer is needed to help support our Members and add some festive cheer. We are looking for volunteers for three special dates:

Tue 13 Dec 12-3pm – Members Christmas Lunch

Wed 14 Dec 3-7pm – Open Door Christmas Meal

Mon 19-Wed 21 Dec – Members Christmas Break, Perthshire

Members Christmas Lunch at the Grassmarket Centre

About the Role
Our Members Christmas Lunch is a fantastic way for us to celebrate with our Members. Join us for the festivities to make this a truly wonderful experience. We are looking for support to set up room, serve meals, engage with members and tidy up.

Training
Training will be provided on the day with specific tasks for each Volunteer.

Key Qualities or Skills required
The most important skills for our members Christmas lunch are an understanding attitude, empathy and a commitment to support others.

Minimum Age for Role
18

Wed 14 Dec 3-7pm
Open Door Christmas Meal at the
Grassmarket Centre

About the Role 
Our Open Door Meals service is for people who are homeless, vulnerably housed or suffer from poverty or social exclusion. On Wed 14 Dec 4-9pm we are hosting a special Christmas meal and would like your support to make this a special occasion.

Wed 14 Dec 3-7pm

Training
Training will be provided on the day with specific tasks for each Volunteer.

The most important skills for Open Door Meal volunteers are an understanding attitude, empathy and a commitment to support others.

Minimum Age for Role
18

Mon 19-Wed 21 Dec
Members Christmas Break, Birnam, near Dunkeld, Perthshire
leaving from the Grassmarket Centre

This trip is specifically for our most Vulnerable members who have no family or friends to share the Christmas with. And/or you could  This is a fantastic opportunity for us to make this a truly magical experience for these members.

About the Roles
Kitchen and Cooking Assistants –
do you have a background in cooking and would like to support making meals for our Members before the event and on the day?
Walking leaders and Assistants – helping support the group safely on a walk.
General support – helping with games, activities,, cleaning and anything else needed

Hours & days required

  • Non residential cooks and present wrapping – 4 hours the day before (Sun 18 Dec)
  • Walking/cooking on residential – the whole thing, 2 nights overnight
  • Or come up for the day, full travel reimbursed
