We close off our Bad Trip season with this underrated 90s gem about three drag queens on a roadtrip to Los Angeles. When Vida (an unrecognisable Patrick Swayze) and Noxeema (an equally unrecognisable Wesley Snipes) jointly win a New York drag pageant, they decide to drive across the country to save money, joined by novice drag queen Chi-Chi (John Leguizamo). After car troubles the three find themselves marooned in a small Midwest town, where the locals are suspicious of the three friends who must make the best of their potentially dangerous situation.
From this clash of two very different worlds; urban and rural, queer and heteronormative, comes a sense of solidarity and mutual respect that defines this funny and flamboyant comedy.
