A backhanded love letter to Oakland, California this crime caper – written by its two stars—follows Colin Hoskins (Daveed Diggs) as he struggles to complete his probation, while trying to look after his hot-tempered best friend Miles (Rafael Casal).
Ostensibly a buddy comedy with a thin crime narrative running through it, Diggs and Casal work the genre to explore issues of police brutality, drug violence, homelessness and urban gentrification. One of the films of 2018, we feel this is the perfect companion piece to the forthcoming April screening of Push, deserving of the biggest and widest possible audience.
