Open Spaces - CEC Consultation
The City of Edinburgh Council is preparing an open space strategy for Edinburgh which aims to ensure that a coordinated approach is taken to protecting and developing the city’s network of open space. It will set standards of provision that the Council will be expected to meet. The strategy will be accompanied by action plans prepared in participation with the 12 Neighbourhood Partnerships in Edinburgh.
The Draft Open Space Audit, completed the first stage and this document is available for comment.
Essentially this identifies all the open space areas in Edinburgh and categorises them. There are three in the Grassmarket area, as follows:
CIV 10 - The Grassmarket
[Civic Space, Ownership: Council]
NAT 2 - King's Stables Road
[Other Semi-natural Greenspace, Ownership: Other]
PG 9 - West Port Gardens (known locally as Patrick Geddes Gardens)
[Public Park or Garden, Ownership: Council]

Interestingly Grannie's Green does not appear to be listed or identified on this map (it should be the triangle joining CIV 10 & NAT 2).
