Community Notice Board
G.R.ASS is committed to erecting a community notice board as a means of keeping local people informed of events and issues in their area.
Since the idea was raised at our public meeting in March this year, we have taken this forward. We held a poll on this site asking for where Grassmarket area residents thought the best location for a noticeboard would be. Here are the results:
Almost half of all respondents agree that Thompson’s Court courtyard would be the best place. (Sample: 124)
We are actively pursuing this option. We have an agreement with Hillcrest Housing Association, who own Thompson’s Court, to locate the noticeboard on the railings of the courtyard. An architect has drawn up and subnitted plans for which we have been granted "advertising consent" from the City of Edinburgh Council.
Unfortunately the administrative process has been both time consuming and expensive. These issues have delayed implementation but we are confident that the noticeboard will be in place before February 2010.
