The Grassmarket Community Project offers a variety of opportunities for individuals to participate in the work that we do.
Become a Member
We welcome anyone who is interested to join the project, whether they are homeless, vulnerable or just interested in helping out in their spare time. We invite everyone to join our community on an equal footing and believe this is a true expression of community.
To become a member of the project, you will have to fill in a membership form (click here to download) and then book an appointment with our Members & Volunteers Manager Nicky Reynolds to go through the form. Once you are a member you are welcome to take part in any of the groups and workshops that we run. We are also always looking for new groups to add to our programme so if you have an idea for an activity please let us know!
For more information on becoming a member or if you are interested in running a group please contact Nicky via our contact form or call 0131 225 3626.
All new members receive a handbook at their induction which summarises our key policies and the code of conduct; however, the policies in full can be downloaded here.
Activities and Groups
We run a huge range of social integration and educational activities for our members, including cookery and baking classes, art, aerobics, table tennis, yoga, drama, IT, reading and writing, sewing, gardening and photography. To download a current 7 days a week FREE programme of activities, click here March Programme 2017
These contributions help us ensure that our drop-ins, classes and workshops remain free and open. We are also eligible to receive gift aid. As an organisation we work with JustGiving to help ensure the security of donations, and also to give us the ability to help our supporters organise fundraising activities such as cycle trips, marathon runs and other activities. For more information on donations please visit our Just Giving page.
Commissions and Gifts
Purchasing gift items produced by the woodwork and tartan textiles group is very easy – simply drop into the workshop or café to browse the items we have for sale. We can also create commission pieces of furniture in the workshop and bespoke items handmade by our tartan group – speak to Tommy (Furniture) or Nina (Tartan) on 0131 225 3626 or via our contact form.
