Parking
It would appear that motorcycles parked on pavements are invisible to Traffic Wardens, Police and all other official bodies!

Throughout the Grassmarket area, motorcycles regularly park on pavements thus avoiding parking charges but no action is taken against them. Is there a local by-law allowing this parking?

Grassmarket - how to get there
It's really good news that CEC is committed to making the Grassmarket more family friendly. So here are some simple directions, for those unfamiliar with how to get there.

1. Head for Lothian Road and then go along Bread Street
2. Continue past the Sex Shop

3. Then negotiate your way past the drinkers hanging about outside the Western Bar. The pavement is a bit narrow and usually crowded with eager customers and the occaisional stripper- sorry dancer.

4. Then down the hill and past the Grassmarket Bar. Again the pavement is a bit narrow and usually crowded with drinkers.
5. Watch your footing on the broken pavements for the next 50 yards. (The Public realm Improvements didn't extend outside the Grassmarket)
6. When you reach the big open space, you know you have arrived.

RESPECT!
It was good to hear that the Grassmarket licensses are committed to making the area more family friendly. Maybe they should start by being more friendly towards the local families! ts about time that these pubs reminded their patrons that people live above, next door and nearby. Only one pub in the immediate area has a notice asking customers to keep noise down.

How about some respect from the other pubs!

Unwelcome visitors
Following a meeting, regarding KSR trees last moth, I was of the understanding that Mike Penny of CEC had agreed that local residents would lead the "garden" type improvements. If this is the case then where did the appalling planters come from?

Does anybody think that two hiddeous planters dumped at one end of the market does anything to enhance the area?
